I have spoken with an attorney, and one week ago, his office filed what he is calling a "petition" to allow me to keep my license until court dates are determined.

1.  How long does it typically take for this to be achieved?

2.  I was charged with DWI, but refused to take any chemical tests ( I was presented the form to sign notifying me of a one-year suspension)

3.  Also, he has requested the police report plus a copy for me.  How long should I expect this to take?

I'm somewhat nervous now, since tomorrow (9/17) begins my suspension.  All I know is that I didn't crash my car, didn't kill anybody, did no property damage, was extremely courteous to the arresting officer and his partner.  Why should I feel like I will not be allowed to drive for one year while so many other "high profile" cases end up with a slap on the wrist (Leonard Little - St. Louis Rams)?
